  1. Matt says:

    well done,mate.well done.

  2. zjack says:

    this list is crap….!!!

  3. Will says:

Wow. VH1 must have forgotten what “hard rock” means.

  4. porfirio says:

grand funk deserve a better ranking

  5. Jobob says:

    Who thinks Rush is underrated?

  6. Bjørn says:

I believe you missplaced Smells Like Teen Spirit.
It clearly should be on #1.
    Change it. Now.

  7. MrHardRock says:

Welcome the Jungle…… number 1? How many times were band members allowed to vote. I mean, comon maaannnn!

  8. Josh Harper says:

I love Lita Ford but I prefer Larger Than Life. Why do you motherfuckers hate hair metal so much?! WASP should be top 11 on the list

  9. Josh Harper says:

Instead of The Cash, why not Bodies by Drowning Pool? That song speaks for itself not that gay song by The gay Clash!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Austin says:

Where’s AC/DC’s Highway to Hell or Shook Me All Night Long? Far better than Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

  11. joe rabbottino says:

The fact that “cherry pie” by Warrant is on this list makes this list a 100% joke in my eyes, but that “Man in the Box” by Alice In Chains is excluded along with RATM and System of the Down and Tool makes this thing just flat out comical, and like a few other people mentioned wtf is up with all the 80s hair bands on this list? Man I know you can never make a list that everyone is gonna like or agree with, but this thing is an abortion.

    • Tex Shelters says:

Let me just say “Ditto” to your comment. A lot of aging rockers who haven’t listened to music produced after the eighties voted on this list. I love lots of their choices, but when you exclude Rage Against the Machine, your list is illegitimate.

I would put “Bulls on Parade” near the top. It is better written and less phony then 95% of the list. I must say the top 5 songs are pretty damn good, but I would put Baba O’Reilly over “Won’t Get Fooled Again”.

Sorry Zep fans, Stairway to Heaven might be a great song, but it’s not rocking enough. Whole Lotta Love is a much better choice. I would put Song Remains the Same above both in terms of the guitar playing and song writring, but Whole Lotta Love is more emblematic of hard rock.

      Peace,
      Tex Shelters

    • Dominik says:

The stones never were, and never will be a hard rock band.
just like most of the songs you named are not hard rock songs.

      • Tex Shelters says:

You are correct, but “Let’s Have a War” by Fear might have been nice to see on the list, or a song by Black Flag, like “Rise Above” might have been nice since Rollins was such a big contributor to the show.

How about, “Anarchy in the UK”? There were plenty of second rate Mental songs that could have been replaced by first rate punk songs, like “Holiday in Cambodia.”

I thought the show was “best hard rock songs” not lame a$s metal songs.

Yea, and the top five are great.

        Peace,
        Tex Shelters

    • Nadobols says:

Dude. This has got to be the longest sentence ever. Stop. Breathe, and for god’s sake use a punctuation every once in a while.

  14. where stairway to heaven best song ever no we are the champions of the world by queen more than a feeling by boston satisfaction rolling stones no santana song says:

twisted sister shouldnt be in the top 100000 songs where is stairway to heaven clearly the best hard rock song of all time no boston more than a feeling no rolling stones satisfaction i guess not hard enough rock no beatles songs no reo speedwagon only one who song what about baba oreilly santana only one journey song who voted for these songs people that were born after 1970 any body heard of alvin lee ten years after how could motorhead be in the top 10 poorly done show

  15. -Z- says:

I applaud the range of artists on this list. I certainly do not agree with them all, but it is not my list. I would have liked to have seen an entry from BTO.

  16. george says:

what is wrong with those who voted??? how could the greatest song of all time-STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN-be left out???????

    • Tex Shelters says:

Stairway to Heaven might or might not be the best song ever, but it’s not even the most rocking Zeppelin Song. Whole Lotta Love and others are better for hard rock song list.

      Peace,
      Tex Shelters

  17. cody says:

and i also think the final countdown should not be on that list…i think its kinda weird that it is actually i mean its not a bad song but it isn’t one of the top 100 hard rock songs

  18. Ryan says:

No way Welcome to the Jungle is #1. I’m a big Guns & Roses fan but welcome to the jungle isn’t even their best song, never mind THE best song. Civil War is way better

  19. Thumper22 says:

    Where’s the Queen?

  20. king says:

rage against the machine and five finger death punch are not on this list because its a list for ROCK not for metal i do disagree with some of the choices like bon jovi beating zeppelin or gnr being the top song but overall the list is acceptable.
some other artists you should be complaining about are(because none of them are rock they fall into other genres):
    creed (alternative)
    The Darkness
    Buckcherry
    Smashing Pumpkins (alternative)
    Evanescence
    The White Stripes (progressive)
    Kid Rock (hip hop)
    Pearl Jam(alternative)

    • Brick says:

Okay one thing you guys have to realize is that this is a HARD ROCK countdown. Alt, Grunge, Metal, Hair Metal, and Punk (among others) fall under the Hard Rock umbrella because in the Music world it is a very vague classification.

    • Tex Shelters says:

If “Bulls on Parade” is not hard rock, nothing is.

It’s a list of “Hard Rock” songs. It’s not that Rage isn’t hard rock, it’s that older rockers who don’t know the 90s and 00s exist were some of the primary voters. It’s ridiculous. Unless Rage wasn’t on the list when people voted, it makes no sense. And if they aren’t hard rock, why were they on the list of best “Hard Rock” bands.

      Peace,
      Tex Shelters

  21. karl says:

Bon Jovi, Poison, Europe, and Winger being on this list make it total b.s.

  22. maggie says:

Neil Young- Rockin’ in the Free World??

And how does Bon Jovi beat out Led Zeppelin?

    • george says:

how could they leave out stairway to heaven? thats the greatest song of all time.what is wrong with those who voted???

  23. jeff says:

agreed.. why no rage? “killing in the name” of should be on here. also rhcp – give it away. theres too many 80′s metal songs on this list

  24. daniel says:

how is ther no rage against the machine?

  25. Kyle says:

Why is there no Five Finger Death Punch?!?!?!?!?!?!

    • cody says:

because five finger death punch shoudnt be on the list not because they arent “hard rock” but because they arent good enough they are annoying
