Rap wouldn’t be what it is today if it weren’t for rock.

P.S. Modern mainstream rap sucks. If you want ART, you should try Run-D.M.C.

    Kashmir is top 5 material.:(

Its true rap wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for rock. why do you think its so easy for rap songs today to be turned into rock songs

  4. desertshield56 | Jan 2, 2009 | Reply

i believe that rock is the only reason rap is what it is today. honestly, i cant stand mainstreet rap, but if you throw some heavy drums and electric guitar in the mix, ill listen to that crap all day long

  5. Oatmeal | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

Thanks for posting the list. Time to get all of the songs!

  6. chris | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

Bawitdaba should be higher great trash metal song, although if a Kid Rock song was on their it should have been I Am The Bullgod way better than Bawitdaba

If you voted for twisted sister, quiet riot, bon jovi, def lappard or poison you should be shot the 80′s were gay except ac/dc,van halen and aerosmith

back in black im tired of that song its a easy riff and a repetative song, let their be rock is the best ac/dc song period.

Smells Like Teen Spirit should be demoted for ripping off Boston (More Than A Feeling) it was Kid Rock’s All Summer Long (Sweet Home Alabama) or American Bad Ass (Sad But True) way before those songs came out.

Hey Joe isnt really a hard rock song Purple Haze or Voodoo Child is and both better than Hey Joe which should be way further back.

Where is Rage Against The Machine at?

Lastly seriously Twisted Sister No 17 list lost all credibilty esp with no Iron Man listed or Black Dog or Stranglehold etc

  7. Tha-Pie | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

“C’mon Everybody”, where is Humble Pie on this list? I submit 3 songs in order of preference – “C’mon Everybody”, “Hot-n-Nasty”, and “30 Days in the Hole” – all from the “Smokin” LP from 1972. It’s old school but it doesn’t get any better!

  8. AiC = greatest ever | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

Alice in Chains – Would? at #88 is a joke. Easily top ten.

  9. savedarfur | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

honestley, if you dont enjoy this music then dont waste your time posting comments about it.

i dont understand why you are arguing on a comment board for an article about rap. take your hateful crap somewhere else becuase nobody wants it here

  10. Burns | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

What about Pantera. I’m pretty sure they’re more metal than some pansy ass Bon Jovi.

  11. Burns | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

How the hell is Enter Sandman better than… Let’s see One for example. What ever happened to Master of Puppets?

  12. stephanie | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

This is definitely the worst countdown. I just watched it and I got all excited to see Welcome to the Jungle as number one. Wtffffff? I mean it’s a good song but it does not deserve the number one spot. No the Doors? You’ve got to be kidding me. Jim Morrison is the epitome of rock. Without him, there would be no one. Buck Cherry even making the first hour is ridiculous. I agree that Kashmir should have been higher than Whole Lotta Love. And as far as you bitches ranting about rap being better, if it wasn’t for rock rap wouldn’t be around so stfu. Rock’s been around much much longer anyway.

  13. stephanie | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

One more thing, do not blame vh1. Blame the dumb asses that vh1 let vote for this countdown. Well at least blame them more than vh1 is to be. Also, coming from a teenager I guarantee that a bunch of nimrod twenty some year olds and other teenagers voted thinking they know what rock is when they really don’t. Pathetic? I think so.

  16. Shawnt | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

Man they had some great songs on here…but IMO Disturbed should have been featured…they gets no love from the voters…that sucks they are a HUGE band…atleast can I get “Down With The Sickness” on here? geez!

Stranglehold should have made the list over Cat Scratch Fever!

this list has a few holes definitely!

  17. Nick | Jan 3, 2009 | Reply

I couldn’t agree more with the people who said Rage Against the Machine should be on there. The list is HARD ROCK and several of the songs on there are not hard rock. How the hell does Rage not make it on there? What is Rage’s music too political? Don’t get me wrong Everlong is a cool song but not hard rock. Eye of the Tiger made the list really? Wow really need to check to make sure they are hard rock before you put out a list that says top 100 hard rock songs.

  18. scott | Jan 4, 2009 | Reply

C’mon…this list was basically about Hard Rock only…not just Metal..so, not a lot of our favorite bands were gonna make the list. Hell, I was most surprised Staind didn’t make the list…or Pink floyd.

What about Soundgarden’s Rusty Cage or Outshined

  21. fieldysdreams | Jan 4, 2009 | Reply

ac/dc and guns and roses should have not have had the top two spots.. espically with korn at 48? come on.. and they even beat out led zeppelin.. i dont think this is right..

  22. Nick | Jan 4, 2009 | Reply

I watched this list for hours waiting for Rage Against The Machine, tool, or even system of a down but they never came. Kid Rock, Poison, Foreigner, Europe seriously? I Thought VH1 would’ve got it right born of a broken man, bull on parade, killing in the name of, Boom, nope not one. Great job VH1…

A little surprised that Everlong got as high as it did. Also I believe that Rage against the machine’s Bulls on parade was not on the list. . . .also no Disturbed Down with the sickness . . . Even though I cant stand Rage against the machine they did make an impression on modern rock

  29. patrick | Jan 13, 2009 | Reply

  30. amanda | Jan 15, 2009 | Reply

i found this almost unwatchable because that pansy-ass brett michaels was hosting. any guy who wears more makeup than i do, has obviously had botox injected in his lips, and is a male whore-slut (not in a cool, rockstar way but in a “i love new york” way) has no business being anywhere near hard rock. or rock of any sort.

and don’t get me started on that cracker, white-trash song stealer whose name i won’t even mention. of all the bands snubbed, HE gets on the list. ridiculous.

I was watching this and I was expecting Loverboy (Working for the Weekend, among others) to be on there somewhere. I was dissapointed they weren’t, but I chalk that up to them being a Canadian band and not as popular in the States. But what the real travesty was was the absence of “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf. That is THE definative hard rock song and coined the phrase “Heavy Metal” in the first place. I was half expecting it to be #1, and it should have at least made the Top 10. Instead, it’s not on the list at all.

    Bah…

Gunz’ and ROses good but not 1 maybe 5, master of puppets is missing as well as IRon Maiden, Fear of the DArk

Im counting this is not Hard Rock I mean cause Bon Jovi and many more

However, the same could be said for the list, half those songs aren’t hard rock either. Just face it, nobody will ever be able to make a perfect top 100 song list. of anything. also, wtf to the argument about rap up top. hard rock list, not rap.

You don’t like it, then here’s an idea: Instead of wasting your time getting all mopey about it, make your own list. Most lists are based off of opinions anyway.

    Pathetic List!

  71. James | Mar 30, 2009 | Reply

Bohemian Rhapsody could’ve easily made top ten. I mean, it’s not like VH1 limited the genres of this 100 Hard Rock Songs countdown to Hard Rock, no, with songs like Talk Dirty To Me featured on the list, I don’t see why Lose Yourself by Eminem can’t be placed on the list. They both seem to be the same proximity away from hard rock after all.

    Fail list is fail.

Stupid list. 50% at least don’t belong. No Stranglehold, no Lunatic Fringe, no Pantera, Tool, Yes, progressive rock like Dream Theater or Symphony X. Only one Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath yet two Winger and AC/DC. Stupid list.

  74. Andrew | Apr 5, 2009 | Reply

Metallica should absolutely be number 1. Nothing will touch their songs that go up to 10 minutes that you can actually listen to till the end. These days the average song length is like 3 minutes. Master of Puppets is definitely a must for this list. Rage should be added to this list as well, maybe even Soundgarden too.

  75. Corey | Apr 7, 2009 | Reply

All the songs are good, but there are some that belong and some that don’t. But you need to think most the songs on here were considered “hard rock” when they came out. What we consider hard rock now isn’t what was considered hard rock then. and the majority of these, were songs that changed music. I would of liked to see stairway to heaven, paradise city, purple haze. and if a poison song deserved to be on it Nothin’ but a Good Time should of been on it instead of Talk to me Dirty. Welcome to the Jungle did not even deserve the top 10.

They saved rock and roll from punk and practically invented “Heavy Metal” PAY HOMAGE! Great guitar, ground pounding drums, unbelievable lyrics and who can beat The Vince Neil?! Any one of these songs should be in the top ten.

This was voted on by fans, but everyone is right some should be there and some shouldn’t. Let’s be honest though all of those songs when they come on they will get your head to start rockin’

Personally I like Welcome to the Jungle and I know whenever that comes on it takes my attention from anything else. If you don’t think so then definitely top 3.

First off, should have made the cut:

Disturbed, Rage Against the Machine (seriously, HOW did they miss that?!), maybe Linkin Park. Maybe some others too, like Tool, but those are my top 3.

Bands that should not have made the cut:

Bon Jovi (holy crap! I don’t know what they were smoking when they made this list but it wasn’t legal), Kansas, Journey, Foreigner, Poison.

Songs that are way overrated on this list:

Welcome to the freakin’ Jungle (top 30 maybe), Whole Lotta Love (I’m only saying this because it beat Kashmir- I love both songs), Back In Black, Freebird, Hey Joe (that’s not even a hard rock song. If you put Hendrix on the list, use Voodoo Child or something and have him crack the top 20), Blitzkrieg Bop.

    Underrated, screwed, and snubbed:

Kashmir (the anthem of hard rock), Rock You Like A Hurricane, One – Metallica, Hot For Teacher (top 30), and much more.

If you’re gonna make a hard rock list, remember a slightly important rule boys and girls: use hard rock songs.

And whoever said somethin about 50 year old has-beens having something to do with this list was way off. Anyone 50 or over would know that anything that came out after the mid-80′s can in no way compare to true rock and roll. Where is STYX, and REO Speedwagon. No Allman Brothers, or The Outlaws? I understand this is more of a ‘main-stream’ list, but if thats the case, where is ‘Forever’ by Y&T. Bad Co.? Cheap Trick? Worst of all, no Stevie Ray Vaughan! Come on now!!! I understand he was blues, but he’s got a couple rock and songs that would blow the doors off of any 90′s or later music. I still cant believe GnR made the #1 spot. Its all nonsense.

First let me say this, I think that the people who voted for these songs simply played Guitar Hero on easy one time, thought they knew rock, went out and bought one shirt with Slash on it “Cause he is the most awesome guy EVER!!!!!”. Shut up, it’s cause he was on Guitar Hero.

Anyway, this list is missing a lot of bands (I won’t bother listing the songs, although I think they should replace a few of the bands’ songs with better works), like Pantera, Pink Floyd, Disturbed, Godsmack, System of a Down, Rage, Tool, Styx, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, and the list goes on and on. Personally, even though I know they are kinda underground and not really mainstream, I would have loved to see Dream Theater. The technical and musical prowess of their songs are unparalled.

But yeah, this was probably the worst list ever, next time let’s not have Vh1 do a list for rock music. Maybe I should just make my own…

you guys r all idiots. this is the best top 100, let me repeat, 100 hard rock songs of ALL TIME. do you know how many songs were made from the beginning to now. each song on here played a big role in making rock what it is so do your homework if you disagree cus we had to touch on all eras. i dare you to try and make a list because all you are going to get is a comment page like this full of wannabe metal heads that think they know metal bashing your hard work saying “why is bon jovi on there” or “where is rage against the machine” when they werent even sperm when bon jovi was big so they have no idea what he did for rock. and rage against the machine is an amazing band but bulls on parade isnt legendary so put it on your ipod and shut up.

i think they did a decent job. there is no possible way to please all of us. that is why rock is what it is because it is full of different riffs and styles and flovors that spark new ideas and continues to grow. there really isnt a right answer to the best rock song ever so no matter what they put u all would be crying anyway. its not like this list is law and you all have to agree with it. the only list that shud matter is the one you make for yourself. dont be a poser and say it rocks cuz others say it rocks. listen to it then make the decision yourself. im always going to rock out. and super cool guys will always be in my number 1 spot because they ARE rock and roll.

There is 100 good songs, but we can’t make a top 1000 for all the pleasures… some bands you said couldn’t enter in this list, cause they don’t really are Hard Rock, they’re other kind of Metal, like RATM, Dream Theater, etc… Pantera should enter on this ’cause Megadeth and Metallica entered, but whatever… Dream Theater is really a great band, but they aren’t Hard Rock, they’re Progressive, its a lot different.

It’samazing that Yes had some of the best band members in regards to talent on instruments, Steve Howe was voted one of the best guitarest , Chris Squire could run circles around many of these othe bands in talent, let not forget how long they they stayed around re-invented themselves , and not one of their songs are posted, cmmmon who voted just head bangers for guitarest who play same notes over and over and screem the song, Yes / Pink Floyd

this list is horribel, and the comments are even funnier, rage against the machine 100 percent should be on there, also pantera has to be there, and for the people commenting on rap its not rock that inspired rap, but disco. They would take disco climax’s in song, and replay them, thus creating a beat. and good rap is Big L, Wu Tang Clan, NWA, a tribe called quest, Notorious B.I.G,2pac, and many others. VH1 IS RETARDED

I’m not sure how the list was compiled….. did VH1 give multiple choices of songs of each band to vote online, or was there some sort of huge 500-1000 long list with an already pre-chosen representative of each band to then vote for???? Regardless, the list was never going to please everyone, and never will judging by some comments here. The other variable is how did they exactly classify “hard rock” from the other related sub classes of rock?? I agree with PJ really; thank f#$k someone is at least attempting to piece the top 100 rock songs of all time (even if it was hosted by a pretty bot soft cock!). As for rap, let em have it, hard rock rules and everyone knows it – thats something we can agree on! (p.s. AC/DC should have been No.1 ;-)

But at least 1/4 of the songs aren’t even close to “Hard Rock”. They kept talking about the Riffs in the song and it was sponsored by Guitar Hero so I think the list was mislabled. Lists like these can be so subjective. It can never be all-encompasing. With that said, it’s not a horrible list. First, it’s hard to define what hard rock is (compared to heavy metal, punk, classic rock, etc.). Second, music types are generally too confined and the genres overlap to create confusion as to what is considered appropriate classifications (if any one at all).

Hair Bands can’t be disregarded in this list (Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, etc.) nor can earlier bands such as Kiss, Van Halen and AC/DC.

Grunge has it’s place somewhere on this list as well – Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc.

Where did hard rock and heavy metal get it’s start should be represented better – Black Sabbath (Ozzy), Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow.

Then we have the Metal crowd – obviously Metallica is the most commercial and successful of the bunch.

There is no way to appeal to the masses so this debate is futile. Just find the music you like and respect the decisions of others when lists like this are made. Better yet, make a list of your own and see how others react to your tastes.

For a Hard Rock list few hard rock songs made the Top 100. Maybe it’s because most heavy metal sucks. There weren’t enough Hard Rock hits to make a list of 100 so Vh1 pretty put in whatever they wanted to. The Who, Led Zeppelin, Rush, and (despite The Wall) Pink Floyd are Not hard rock bands. The genre they share is called progressive or acid rock. To further delineate acid rock Three Doors Down, Creed, AC/DC, and Poison are NOT acid rock. Acid rock is named after stoners or ,more specifically, Hippie stoners.
It’s sad that newer bands can’t hold a candle to the older ones. I guess that’s why bands like Led Zeppelin and The Beatles are considered the legends of rock. “The child has grown the dream is gone” hahaha. I don’t mind the new guys however because I don’t have to listen to them…until I hear “let me be myself” I really really hate that song (and the band sucks).

The reason some of the best all time bands ever are not on this list is because the people who should have been voting are actually out working, not voting for songs on VH1. Everybody who’s left have no taste in music.

I was thrilled to see Tull on the list but Thick as a Brick definitely should have been there. Also, The Stones’ Sympathy for the Devil, and there should have been more ACDC.

Evanescence, Journey and Pat Benetar are soft rock at best. I love Supertramp but they definitely wouldn’t belong on a Hard Rock list. However with some of the choices that did get included, Supertramp can definitely compete.

Where was Sweet Child of Mine and Sweet Home Alabama? Alice Cooper has better tunes than School’s Out.

By the way, anybody hear Dream Theatre? If not, give it a listen you won’t be disappointed.

I am sorry, but I think this list is very “westocentric”. For example, Yugoslavia had one of the best rock (and hard-rock) scenes in Europe twenty-thirty years ago. So, here is my top 10 list. I recommend that all of you listen these songs under numbers 10. 7. 5. and 3. and you will be very plesently surprised:

    10. Kerber – Ratne igre
    9. Rolling Stones – Satisfaction
    8. Queen – I Want it All
    7. Riblja Corba – Amsterdam
    6. Rainbow – Lady of the Lake
    5. Bijelo Dugme – Kad bi bio bijelo dugme
    4. Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
    3. YU Grupa – Cudna suma
    2. Black Sabbath – Paranoid
    1. Iron Maiden – Fear of the Dark (if “Run to the Hills” is hard-rock, then I guess “Fear of the Dark” is also).

where is the led zeplin songs they are always in the top especially stairway 2 heaven

  325. Stevie | Jun 11, 2010 | Reply

I agreed with most of the artists on the list, but not necessarily the songs. There are songs by several of these artists that rock harder than the ones VH1 picked.

A lot of people were asking ‘where’s the Stones and Zeppelin?’ This is a HARD rock list, not a classic rock list. As a classic rock jock myself, I would have been very disappointed if they had included them. Not that they don’t rock–they do–but we’re talking serious hard rock here, not the more mellow sound some of the classic artists are known for.

I was surprised that a few other groups didn’t make it. Nickelback, for one. Don’t knock them, they’ve got some seriously rockin’ music. And if it was MY list, I don’t think I would have added Europe or Billy Squier.

All in all, it’s a great list, and I fully intend to make a playlist for my iPod. It’s not “The” definitive list; everyone’s different, so everyone would pick differently. Just because it’s not what I would have picked doesn’t make it stupid or retarded.

  326. Facepalm | Jun 13, 2010 | Reply

Typical list of just mainstream music. Sure, there are some really good songs on there, but most of them are misplaced as fuck (Heaven and Hell on place 81? PFFFT), and some of the songs aren’t even “hard rock”. For example, AC/DC have made much better songs than Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap or Back in Black. Where’s Whole Lotta Rosie or Riff Raff? See, that’s what happens when only the most popular songs are picked out.

  351. Steve | Jul 17, 2010 | Reply

@fieldysdreams, You’re wrong. AC/DC should have been no.1, Back In Black is the greatest album (and of course the biggest)of all time.

  352. Andrew | Jul 17, 2010 | Reply

Midlife Crisis of Faith no More should be number 2 and Black hole sun of Soundgarden number 1

I have to agree with the posts that asked why the Beatles aren’t on the list. Not just Helter Skelter and She’s So Heavy but how about their fast version of Revolution, Hey Bulldog, She Said She Said, Taxman, Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except for me and my Monkey, Don’t Let me Down, Get Back, Savoy Truffle etc………………….
I mean crapp, even “I want to Hold Your Hand” and “I saw Her standing There” were hard rock pioneer songs but the previous mentioned ones kick but from every direction.
Hopefully VH1 hasn’t gone the reverse status Beatles phenomenon that phased for a while before the resurgence of their music as of late.
Great picks on the list but the Beatles should have made the list at least once!

  355. DusK | Jul 28, 2010 | Reply

The reason why Rage Against The Machine isnt in the list coz vh1 is too scared that the government might shut them down… just kidding.

but too disappointing that theres alot missing in the lineup. ALOT… and alot as in Dream Theater alot…

but we can’t blame those people who can’t accept some of this generations music. they are too caught up in the past. vh1 should just burn this list and let the counting be left by the pros.

i have to agree where the hell is sweet child ‘o mine???

  357. Theres no Stairway to Heaven? | Jul 30, 2010 | Reply

This list is so wrong, they put up two Led Zeppelin songs and neither of them were rock n roll or stairway to heaven, the bands two most popular song i have to say (though kashmir is up there too) And im a big GNR fan but Back and Black by AC/DC should have been number 1 on the list….and Sweet Child O Mine i think should have been ahead of Welcome to the Jungle cause i think that is a better song (or it could have made the list, which it should have)…one last thing, Carry On my Wayward Song should have been higher on the rankings

  359. stupid comments | Aug 7, 2010 | Reply

ive been readin thru the comments and some are stupid, i see comments like “wheres the doors, jim morrison is a god” and “no beatles”

are u people retards? its called the top 100 HARD ROCK, not claissic rock or even just rock. its hard rock.

also saw someone say welcome to the jungle didnt deserve #1. i totally disagree, that song never gets old and is just plain raw hard kick a*s rock. i was expecting led zep to be # 1 with black dog of whole lotta love but honestly, zep isn’t hard rock. to me hard rock makes u want to break somthin. ACDC is the pure definition of hard rock, never did a ballad, never let down their edgy sound. brian johnson is my all time hero and his voice is stuff of legend!!!

  360. AC DC | Aug 11, 2010 | Reply

UHH, No.. You shook me all night long ? Highway to Hell.. TNT… For those about to rock ??? I really struggled w/ remembering 1/4 of the bands on this list, sorry. Whoever came up w/ this is a bunch of hippie loser wannabes. Smoke em up biaaach, freakin incredible ! please don’t ever show this on VH1 again. I know your mad that AC DC just plays rock-n-roll and isn’t interested in political left wing crap. Geez you could have had the Back-Black album in the top 10.

  361. AC DC | Aug 11, 2010 | Reply

Great songs stand the test of time, I don’t think I’ve heard half of these songs for 15 years. I think VH1 brain deads are having flashbacks.

you said crazy train is not on this list, its #23

  363. John | Aug 13, 2010 | Reply

This is a kick ass list. Stop bitching. IT SAYS HARD ROCK NOT THRASH OR SPEED METAL. The 80′s kicked ass and if you think they sucked, that proves you cant enjoy life.

wtf no linkin park rage or disturbed really and welcome to the jungle at 1 im gonna start killing people

  365. randomzzz | Aug 20, 2010 | Reply

before some people post comments re-check the list!!! because the songs you are saying are not there are actually there. i wouldnt say bon jovi is gay, i like them, i mean they were around longer then some these bands that were “supposed” to be on here, i would have liked that they hadnt but songs from the late 90′s or 00′s but whatever, im glad they didnt put down with the sickness though .i dont really like that smells like teen spirit is on here or green day, but i cant change the list.most of the songs were good though and vh1 cant please us all, and im pretty sure i saw the rolling stones on this list when i watched it on tv.and #35 is missing. some of the bands you guys are demanding should have bean on this list are not mainstream and the people who voted for the songs are probably teens who didnt know what they were doing. this was just an opinion and i suggest you guys stop ranting because half of these comments are about the same fraeking thing!

  366. Kevin | Aug 24, 2010 | Reply

AC/DC deserved spot number 2. They are one of the best rock bands in the world.

WTF? Ever hear of NIN? They aren’t on your METAL list either…

  375. Gatzy | Aug 27, 2010 | Reply

Lmao. I’m reading through these comments and enjoying myself. XD

Some of you guys are crying because Linkin Park and Nickelback didn’t make the list… Who else do you want on it? The Jonas Brothers? My Chemical Romance? Justin Bieber? Grow some pubes you fa**ots.

Also, I have to agree that this list was missing a lot of great songs, but most of the bands mentioned are (and will always be) the sh*t! Who cares what place they came? More than likely a bunch of teenage guitar hero addicts who don’t know a thing about hard rock picked the slots on this list anyway.

Everyone has their own personal top 100. It doesn’t make any sense agruing against eachother(especially on the internet). We all share a love for hard rock and that should pull us together, not push us apart.

….We should be shouting at the people who love these shitty new generation pop bands… (Naw,I’m kidding).

  376. sickflow | Aug 27, 2010 | Reply

I agree with raven…there should be a lot more rush songs on here then just tom sawyer and that song should be higher then frickin’ twisted sister and smoke on the water. some of these songs aren’t hard rock at all. if i made this list i would also put testify and killing in the name by rage

  377. kat | Aug 27, 2010 | Reply

okay so out of a billion songs of course this list is going to be difficult, and subjective. it was a fun time just watching the show and hearing some awesomeness. hard rock forever!

dont ever talk about nirvana or i will kick your ass dude. ok here is the thing; that list sucks; no pantera; no tool;guns an roses #1. really; i dont think so. were ya drunk when ya made this list.

  380. dark rambo | Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

were is tool didnt even make the list whats up with that.

  381. johnny b | Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

How come they didn’t just call it “Top 100 hard rock bands” or something? Seems they just tried to give everyone one song anyway so they could squeeze 100 bands in.

  382. johnny b | Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

and Cum On Feel the Noize should have gone to SLADE not the cover of their song, which wasn’t superior to the original.

SLADE should have gotten it in recognition of their other classics such as G’buy t’ Jane and Mama Weer All Crazee Now.

Anyway, why bother with these lists at ALL? They won’t be the top 100 for any individual, and unless they are the top 100 listened to (prove that!) or top 100 sold, what is the purpose? There is nothing to really judge them other than a bunch of “experts” compromising with each other. What’s that got to do with ME?

  383. johnny b | Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

Sorry they were voted on, apparently. Oh well. That’s democracy for you. Gives you Obama. Gives you Bush. Gives you Reagan. Gives you Clinton.

Hallowed Be Thy Name- Iron Maiden
    Holy Diver- Dio
When the Levee Breaks- Led Zeppelin
